A Micro-Economic Development (MED) project provides the Life Enrichment Church with the opportunity to reach out to others and help families break out of cycles of poverty. MED needs capital to provide low-interest, high accountability loans for its members, so that they can develop their businesses and pay for rice planting. Staffed by church members, the project, now in its 8th year, has a track record of success and is poised to expand.
A - $25 provides a loan for one person for one month.

2158 Clean water for rural poor (Southeast Asia)
Be part of a new holistic business presence in Southeast Asia, making it possible for subsistence farmers to purchase locally produced ceramic water filters.

Many children in the Peruvian Andes suffer from intestinal parasites. Victims of unsanitary conditions and unsafe drinking water, they become weak and frail. With weakened immune systems, they easily fall prey to deadly diseases like pneumonia, common in the mountainous jungles. The Peruvian Mennonite Church provides a simple treatment of medicine and vitamins, and health education and the message of the gospel.

The Mennonite Health program is meeting the health needs of people living in remote villages through mobile clinics.

Many bright university-age students from the rural provinces attempt to further their studies in Phnom Penh. It is difficult for them to find safe and affordable housing. EMM operates a dorm which addresses this need and also provides an environment of spiritual nurture to these future leaders.

The Tanzania and Kenyan Mennonite Churches administer the Mennonite Theological College of East Africa in Tanzania. Tuition assistance allows students with few financial resources to attend. Costs are per student.

1058 Eastleigh Fellowship Centre (Kenya)
Located in a semi-slum area of Nairobi, the Centre provides holistic witness through a library, reading room, and sports teams and gym facilities. The basketball program is a major attraction for the community youth. The center also rents out space for English and computer classes, and for two congregations to worship. Discipleship classes are held twice each year to encourage, train, and hold accountable those who have accepted Christ.

2068 New outreach in Cambodia
EMM senses God leading us to initiate new church planting and community development in the least reached province of Cambodia. Two families from the Integrated Mennonite Churches of the Philippines are committed to join the EMM team to carry forth this vision.

2108 Staff for family ministry center (Macau)
A new church plant is growing in Macau, reaching out through a family ministry center with many children’s programs. EMM is a partner in a consortium of Anabaptist agencies with a focus on this gambling and leisure enclave in southern China.

2138 Typhoon relief for Vietnam
Because of Vietnam’s long Pacific Ocean coastline, villages and towns are frequently devastated by typhoons. This destruction regularly includes church members’ livelihood and property.

1118 Community Center building (The Gambia)
In a six village region there is no place for groups to come together as a community. The Jolla community members are donating their labor and want to contribute 25 percent of the cost. This will give them a place for women’s and young men’s skills training, musical programs, cultural and performing arts events,.

1208 Community gardens (The Gambia)
Our goal is to provide a rotating fund for these gardens run by women, in which they would pay back the fund to our Small Farm Resource Center so it is available for the next women’s group. Many community gardens can therefore benefit from the project.

1228 Gambian workers (The Gambia)
Seventeen local workers provide needed labor for various jobs at the Mennonite Educational & Horticultural Development Associates (MEHDA) center. Contributions will help in offsetting the costs of salaries so that budget money from EMM can go towards community needs and church development.

1238 Solar pump (The Gambia)
During the dry season, Small Farm Resource Center (SFRC) workers dedicate most of their time to pumping water manually to irrigate the plants. This time-consuming job is very inefficient and prevents the SFRC from meeting its many important goals. This project would raise funds to purchase a solar pump.
$2,500 will pay for a solar pump to allow workers greater efficiency. Any amount is appreciated.
1248 Food security through community gardens (Guinea-Bissau)
Food in this country is insufficient and lacks nutritional balance. Community gardens are the best way to help alleviate this need.

2018 Ministry center (Hong Kong)
Hong Kong Mennonites have launched a ministry center with outreach focused on local families in one of the least churched districts of Hong Kong, including alternate week Sunday worship. EMM continues involvement with encouraging relationship and a financial grant.

2028 Domestic worker ministry (Hong Kong)
Filipino and Indonesian domestic contract workers in Hong Kong are responding to Jesus’ transforming message through the ministry efforts of workers sent by PIPKA (Indonesia) and Integrated Mennonite Churches of the Philippines. Together they are forming a multi-cultural church. EMM is a partner in this church and domestic worker ministry.
$50 supports this ministry and the two missionaries for one day.

2128 Vietnam Mennonite Church pastoral training
Part of the Mennonite church in Vietnam has recently received legal registration from the government. This opens pastoral training opportunities that have not existed for three decades. EMM and others are coordinating Anabaptist pastoral training models to equip this “lost” generation of church leaders. The church is growing rapidly, with now more than 6,000 members.
$1,700 covers estimated costs for a one-week training module for 30 pastors.
2188 Leadership training (Indonesia)
Leadership training is a priority of the GITJ Synod (Evangelical Churches of Java), an Anabaptist church group. EMM is developing a stronger relationship with GITJ.
$2,500 assists GITJ in leadership training.
2198 Leadership training (Philippines)
The Integrated Mennonite Church of the Philippines is transitioning to a different leadership model. A matching grant will provide training, coaching, and transportation to seminars and conferences.

2208 Training materials (Southeast)
Our Anabaptist history and writings can encourage believers in Thailand and Cambodia to grow in Anabaptist conviction and identity. Materials need to be translated.
$3,300 will underwrite the expense of beginning translation projects in both countries.
1128 Roofs for churches in Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, and The Gambia)
African churches are built with clay bricks or stones. Though the raw materials for the walls are readily available, the roof is expensive because it must be purchased. EMM provides funds to assist local congregations in the purchase of roof materials.
A - $6 provides one metal roofing sheet.
B - $60 provides ten metal roofing sheets.
C - A modest church roof costs about $2,000.
1138 Training for Kenyan leaders
Leaders of the Kenya Mennonite and Olepolos Mennonite Churches are bi-vocational. They receive different training levels from overnight seminars to bible school. Help train these leaders to promote healthy churches and sustained growth. Costs per trainee:
A - $24 for transportation and food costs.
B - $60 for tuition, part of travel, and one night’s lodging.
C - $900 for tuition, travel, and a modest stipend for one year’s training.
1148 Kenya Mennonite Church history book
Kenyan Mennonites are determined to write the accounts of the movement of God’s Spirit in forming the Kenya Mennonite Church, so that the next generations will be encouraged in their faith. A team of volunteer writers and editors has formed to write a 200-page book; the following amounts cover the remaining costs.

1158 Kenya leadership training for outlying congregations
Kenya Mennonite Church has been nurturing a relationship with a congregation in western Uganda that needs shepherding. The Olepolos church has begun a new venture in church planting in Iltriben, about 20 kilometers away. Both churches desire that members from each congregation be properly trained to function in leadership positions.
A - $40 enables one member to attend a course on leadership training.

Almost no complete families attend church in Albania. Most of the members of the churches are young people. Our vision is to invite the parents of these young people and children to attend a weekend retreat where we introduce the gospel and provide good food and fellowship where whole families can truly interact at a new level with their families and with others who have an interest in spiritual things.

The growing Peru church is reaching in remote villages high in the Andes Mountains. The local village is providing the land, the local believers the foundation and walls. EMM will help in providing the roof and windows.

5058 Training for African domestic workers in the Middle East
EMM is helping to provide support for a Canadian East African pastor who is networking with and resourcing African domestic workers in the Middle East and North Africa. A training seminar is being planned for the domestic workers before they leave for the Middle East this year.

6018 Scholarships for School for Apostles
Imagine your church leader, pastor, bishop, or church planter in an intensive time of training that will resource him or her into developing a revitalized ministry. Imagine yourself being part of re-energizing and encouraging a leader. You can do just that by helping to send a church leader, pastor, bishop, or church planter and his or her family to a week of educational, resourceful, and intentional training. This event also ministers to children and youth.

Close to half of Indonesia’s 200 million population has yet to hear Jesus’ good news of reconciliation and transformation. PIPKA, a long-standing EMM mission partner in Indonesia, is dedicated to planting churches among the least reached of Indonesia. EMM stands with them in taking steps into this vision; you can fulfill this financial commitment by providing:

2078 Church planting partnership (Malaysia)
Several years ago EMM partnered with PIPKA* of Indonesia to plant a church in Singapore. Now the second-generation Singapore church sent a missionary to Malaysia to begin a third-generation church plant. PIPKA of Indonesia and EMM support join with Singapore Mennonite Church in its church planting mission in Malaysia.

2088 Cross-cultural mission partnership with Amor Viviente (China)

1028 Bicycles for evangelism (Kenya, Tanzania, and The Gambia)
In rural Africa, bicycles are a primary source of transportation. They are economical to purchase and operate, and easy to maintain. Bicycles also allow pastors and evangelists to visit church members and communities with greater speed and ease than on foot. Churches provide “seed” money towards a bicycle and maintenance accessories.

The Meserete Kristos Church sends missionaries to share the good news of Jesus across cultures and subcultures in Ethiopia and neighboring countries. Financial support assists a missionary with housing, medical expenses, clothes, and especially shoes, as most travel is by foot.

Kenya is home to 42 different tribes, each with a unique culture and language. Mennonite Churches from various ethic backgrounds do evangelism together to build bridges across cultural stereotypes. The Spiritual Light Newspaper in the Rhodope Mountain region of southern Bulgaria has been a strategic tool for sharing the gospel in non-threatening ways with Muslims, atheists, and nominal Christians alike. Assistance for staff salaries helps pay local staff, especially when the tour seasons are low.

2018 Ministry center (Hong Kong)
Hong Kong Mennonites have launched a ministry center with outreach focused on local families in one of the least churched districts of Hong Kong, including alternate week Sunday worship. EMM continues involvement with encouraging relationship and a financial grant.
$250 covers EMM’s startup grant for one week.
2028 Domestic worker ministry (Hong Kong)
Filipino and Indonesian domestic contract workers in Hong Kong are responding to Jesus’ transforming message through the ministry efforts of workers sent by PIPKA (Indonesia) and Integrated Mennonite Churches of the Philippines. Together they are forming a multi-cultural church. EMM is a partner in this church and domestic worker ministry.
$50 supports this ministry and the two missionaries for one day.
1058 Eastleigh Fellowship Centre (Kenya)
Located in a semi-slum area of Nairobi, the Centre provides holistic witness through a library, reading room, and sports teams and gym facilities. The basketball program is a major attraction for the community youth. The center also rents out space for English and computer classes, and for two congregations to worship. Discipleship classes are held twice each year to encourage, train, and hold accountable those who have accepted Christ.
A - $25 per student taking the discipleship class.
B - $50 for a basketball uniform for one player.
C - $250 hosts one basketball tournament.
