Every EMM worker's primary focus is to make disciples of Jesus. Nurture your own relationship with Jesus through participating in a summer discipleship training experience run by VidaNet, an EMM partner organization in Central America. In a team setting, participate in two weeks of classroom and experiential discipleship training (June 21–July 4), followed by two weeks of outreach (July 5–18) in Honduras. Orientation will begin on June 21 in Akron, Pa. and participants will arrive in Honduras on June 24. Give your summer purpose! For youth and young adults, ages 16–21.

Please apply by April 26.

Responsibilities
Join with other participants in two weeks of discipleship training, diving into topics such as:

  • Christ-like relationships
  • Holy Spirit empowerment
  • Intimacy with God
  • Biblical truth
  • Evangelism and compassion
  • The church and the kingdom
  • World missions
  • Dying to self and living for Christ

After this, participate in outreach activities such as working with children and youth, construction, English teaching, servant evangelism, and street evangelism. Several distinct outreaches have been developed in coordination with the Honduras Mennonite church. Locations could be rural or urban.

Supervisors and colleagues
The discipleship student will interact with other participants, program coordinators, and leaders and members of Honduras Mennonite Church. Training and logistics are administered by VidaNet, so participants will be accountable to a VidaNet staff member. While on outreach, participants will also be accountable to the pastor and/or outreach coordinator of the church with which they are serving.

Skills and experience
This program is for youth and young adults ages 16–21. Participants are expected to come ready to learn, be stretched, serve, and work together!
