GAMES AND ACTIVITIES
37. Check out The Multicultural Game Book for 70 traditional games from 30 countries. By Louise Orlando, Scholastic.
38. Literature-Based Multicultural Activities, by Mary Beth Spann, Scholastic, is full of stories and activities from 25 different cultures.
39. Try Mancala, an African game with smooth stones and a wooden tray, available at most toy stores.
40. For several hours, pretend that you live in a developing countrydon’t rely on electricity, appliances, or conveniences. Wash some clothes by hand, take public transportation or walk, or cook over a fire.
41. Pray with and for your children daily, that God will use you all that day for his glory, wherever you go.
42. Ask a missionary family if your children could be pen pals with their children.
43. Read missionary letters out loud to your children, or have the children take turns reading the letters.
44. Host international students for a meal, or longer. Visit Christmas International House for more information.
45. Sign up for a folk dancing class to learn dances from other cultures. (Look in your local newspaper for details.)
46. Model to children volunteering in places outside the church.
47. Host missionaries on home leave for a meal, or longer.
48. Care about another child through one of EMM’s projects that benefits children or by sponsorship through Mennonite Central Committee’s Global Family Program.

STUFF
50. Keep a world map or globe handy to easily find places that you hear about.
51. Collect nativity scenes from around the world to remind you that Jesus came for everyone.
52. Send a care package to a missionary family. Include special items for the children.
53. Collect coins from around the world. When friends are planning trips, give them a dollar and ask if they’ll bring back some coins from the places they’re visiting.
54. Collect stamps from around the world. Write to missionaries and ask them to write back, using a typical stamp.
55. Collect money for missions-related projects involving children; check out emm.org/projects or EMM’s Catalog of projects* for ideas.
56. Buy items from Ten Thousand Villages, research the countries they’re from, and display the items around your house as a reminder to pray for the people in those countries.

FIELD TRIPS

62. Instead of visiting the big theme parks, put your vacation money towards a visit to a missionary family in another culture.
63. Attend day camp, family camp, or other family fun events through Kids and Cultures (www.kidsandcultures.com).
64. Volunteer together at Water Street Rescue Mission in downtown Lancaster.
65. Attend EMM’s annual Global Fair in mid-July at Lancaster Mennonite School. This cultural event features food, music, and interactive activities for children.
66. Visit Lancaster’s Central Market , listening for other languages. Count how many you hear. Can you identify all of them? How many different cultures’ foods do you find?
67. The next time you travel near a major city, include time to explore/shop/eat in the Chinatown or Little Italy cultural hubs.
68. Attend a travelogue with your children.
69. Attend music/art/dance shows at local universities to see how people from other cultures express themselves.
70. Attend the International Children’s Festival sponsored by Ten Thousand Villages each summer at the Ephrata store.
