ALTA VERAPAZ, Guatemala – After living among the K’ekchi’ people of north central Guatemala for more than 20 years, Eastern Mennonite Missions (EMM) workers Galen and Phyllis Groff have said goodbye to the community they’ve called home.
While handing out bread and rolls to refugees in Germany, one EMM worker has an unexpected conversation about peace.

CHILOE, Chile – Although YES teams sent by Eastern Mennonite Missions often serve all together in one location, the five-member 2014-2015 Chile YES team is discovering greater impact through dividing the team to serve in several island communities in Chiloe, a region of southern Chile.
Ten years ago, I was blessed to serve on the first YES team sent to a diverse country located in South Asia. As an adventurous 18-year-old, I never assumed those five months of life-changing experiences would still be impacting me today in my role as a full-time wife and mother.

Nauseous. That’s how I was feeling as we navigated the three-hour journey from Tirana to Korce. I don’t usually experience motion sickness, but perhaps the lack of sleep and dehydration of my 20-hour journey from Lancaster, Pa., to Albania was now taking its toll. Or perhaps it was the terrible pasta I had on my flight.
We want to be in control; we want to be successful. But sometimes God has other things to teach us. Through illnesses and disappointments, 5 EMM workers choose to trust God and see where He is at work.

MADRID, Spain – The Spanish language version of A Muslim and a Christian in Dialogue (Diálogo entre un musulmán y un cristiano, Libros Desafío) by Badru D. Kataregga and David W. Shenk was launched in Madrid by the Evangelical Alliance of Spain, after a seven-year wait. The official launch of the book, sponsored by the Spanish government’s Ministry of Justice, occurred on November 24, 2014.
