For short-term mission groups to serve with churches in Central America; to continue forming a school of discipleship and mission for the churches in Central America.
The children at risk intern will serve the orphanage community through prayer intercession, living with children as a “house parent,” and/or participating in art, music, horse, and other therapies. Specific activities will be discussed according to the gifts and passions of each participant.
Guatemala is a very beautiful country with a variety of indigenous cultures as well as a unique colonial flavor in many towns. The mountains, lakes, and volcanoes are unforgettable. Guatemala’s democratic government struggles with instability due to corruption and violence. Foreign visitors and workers should take measures to avoid putting themselves in unsafe situations.
Supervisors and colleagues
The children at risk intern will be guided by EMM staff during phase one of Launch. They will have peer accountability and support through their Launch cohort throughout the second and third phases. In Guatemala, interns will work with local and expat staff and interns, receiving supervision from Drew and Cindy Metcalf, the founders of We Help Children.
Skills and experience
Applicants must be strongly committed to Jesus, self-aware in regards to personal strengths and weaknesses, compassionate, and respectful of authority. Higher education is not required.
