EQUIP internship | New York City, U.S.

  • Service term length or program: Mission internship, Discipleship Team
  • Region of service: North America
  • Location: New York City, U.S.
  • Ministry category: Pioneer witness

Every EMM worker's primary focus is to make disciples of Jesus. The 10-month EQUIP missionary training teaches interns principles that lead to reproducible church planting. Interns also gain experience in putting these principles into practice through ministry in New York City.

Responsibilities
Serve on a team that is ministering to a specific ethnic group in New York City, as well as among international students on college campuses. The team is coached and trained by EQUIP staff.

EQUIP will help you develop a philosophy of evangelism, discipleship, and church planting that is organic and highly reproducible. The goal is for interns to leave the internship with the DNA (values) and skills of church planting that lead to church planting movements. EQUIP will also seek to help interns view life and ministry from a gospel perspective.

Environment
Live in the multicultural urban context of New York City. New York City is the top immigration gateway in the U.S., making it the most linguistically diverse city in the world. It is also the largest city in the U.S. This amazing city can feel overwhelming, but it is filled with opportunity.

Supervisors and colleagues
Participants will be coached by EQUIP staff members. EMM staff members will also check in periodically with interns sent by EMM.

Skills and experience
This internship is for someone who is highly teachable, passionately desires to reach and disciple lost and unreached people, and is willing to challenge his or her own fears and paradigms through different ministry methods. Interns must be at least 21 years old.
