Hope for people who are weary of violence
Shane Claiborne and Michael Martin are taking the “Beating Guns” book and their forge on the road with the Beating Guns Tour, a 90-minute event that will feature music, art, and stories of people impacted by gun violence, culminating with an invitation for the audience to take the hammer and transform a gun into garden tools. The event is free but registration is required.
Dinner and discussion with EMM
Join EMM staff and Board members for a light dinner. You’ll hear from EMM leaders about the future of the organization, and there will also be an opportunity for you to ask questions. All pastors and ministry leaders are welcome to attend, but advance registration is required. This dinner is being offered at the end of LMC’s Spring Leadership Assembly —there is no additional cost for the dinner.
The MST appreciation brunch is for Missionary Support Team members who serve EMM appointed missionaries. It is an event to express gratitude for their hard work, dedication, and service to those on the field, and also as a resource for inspiration, encouragement, and connection with like-minded supporters. Register by March 9.
Nelson O. Okanya served as EMM’s seventh president from 2011 through 2018. Among his many accomplishments, Nelson led the development of a new mission vision for EMM called A Garden in Spring. During his tenure, Nelson built meaningful relationships with staff, global workers, churches, and partner organizations. EMM is providing an opportunity for you to thank him for his service. You’re invited to drop in at this reception anytime. There will be a brief program at 3:30 p.m. Please bring your favorite memory to share with Nelson.
Launch is EMM’s cross-cultural discipleship training program, for those who want to develop their cross-cultural understanding in an increasingly globalized world and build their mission and discipleship skills to help all people encounter and grow in Jesus.
You’re invited on a Peruvian adventure that will benefit you and K–12 students in Peru! Hike Peru’s Salkantay Trek, which ranges from Andes peaks to thick jungles and ends with a tour of Machu Picchu, the ruins of an ancient Inca citadel. The trek will raise money for PROMESA, a Peruvian Mennonite school that offers high-quality, discrimination-free education. At the end, visit the school and meet the children you’ve been trekking for!
