New shorter-term opportunities

GO! assignments enable individuals, young adults, adults, congregations, and others to train and serve in short-term cross-cultural missions.

Assignments last from one week up to one year and range from congregational ministry and service teams, to pioneer exploratory teams, to individual "test the call" assignments. Other possible teams include prayer teams, "encourage the worker" teams, and rapid-response teams to meet urgent needs. EMM sends up to five GO! teams per year.

EMM designs and fully coordinates these assignments for those age 18 or older who want to join with other adults in cross-cultural ministry, or who desire individual assignments. Training is required for all assignments: two days of training for trips of three weeks or less; more for the longer teams. Debriefing occurs upon return.

GO! opportunities

Bethlehem, Israel
Length: 3 to 18 months
Who: couples, or singles
Help at a Christian guest house at the Bethlehem Bible College. Serve the college as they provide a place for tourists and service teams who are visiting the Holy Land. There will also be opportunities to help out in the college gift shop, help with ongoing maintenance and construction projects, and teach English in the community. Arabic lessons are available, but English is widely spoken in the community.

China
Length: 6 to 18 months
Who: singles, couple, pastor on sabbatical, small team with a desire to learn the Chinese language and culture
Are you interested in learning Chinese? Enroll as a full-time university student in Mandarin language, and join EMM long-term workers in reaching out to students. This is a great way to learn language and culture, as well as to walk with believers in one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic churches in the world. This is a great opportunity for college students, business people, or others who are interested in engaging in the emerging global market.

Delhi, India
Length: 3 months to 1 year
Who: single, couple, pastor on sabbatical
Work with India New Life Missions in training and discipling leaders, including teaching English to these developing leaders. This role offers opportunity to also connect with the work in Kerala, and to take “prayer journeys” into unreached regions.

Pakistan
Length: 6 months to 1 year
Who: single (single male preferred) or couple
Work with another organization in an earthquake-damaged region of Pakistan. Experience in construction, English teaching, computer teaching, or economic development preferred. Participants should also be able to envision new ways of reaching out into the community.

Cusco, Peru
Length: 2 weeks to 2 months (January and February)
Who: singles, couple, pastor on sabbatical, small team
PROMESA, a bilingual school in Cusco, is expanding. They are adding a second floor to the space they currently use. They will need help finishing construction, and cleaning to get the classrooms ready for use. During February they also need help teaching an intensive English course to the students.
