Foz do Iguaçu, a Brazilian city known as the “land of the waterfalls” has a growing Muslim population. This summer, Brazilian evangelicals in this city explored new ways of relating to their Muslim neighbors with some members of EMM’s Christian-Muslim Relations Team.

FOZ DO IGUAÇU, Brazil — A first-ever interfaith dialogue gathering for evangelical Christians and Sunni Muslims in the Brazilian city of Foz do Iguaçu was held on July 17. The Centro Cultural Beneficente Islâmico de Foz do Iguaçu and the Eastern Mennonite Missions (EMM) Christian-Muslim Relations Team (CMRT) co-sponsored the gathering with the theme, “Peace: Connecting personal experience with Peace on Earth.”
In Peru, fifteen local pastoral couples were invited to their first marriage retreat.

SALUNGA, Pa. — In Latin America, where 90% of people identify as Christian and only 0.1% as Muslim — according to a 2015 study by the Pew Research Center — Christian-Muslim relations is not often emphasized. However, with an expected 12.5% increase in the Muslim population there by 2050, understanding between Christians and Muslims is a growing need.
You’re invited on a Peruvian adventure that will benefit you and K–12 students in Peru! Hike Peru’s Salkantay Trek, which ranges from Andes peaks to thick jungles and ends with a tour of Machu Picchu, the ruins of an ancient Inca citadel. The trek will raise money for PROMESA, a Peruvian Mennonite school that offers high-quality, discrimination-free education. At the end, visit the school and meet the children you’ve been trekking for!
