SUMMARY:Called: Reignite the call
DESCRIPTION:You felt called\, but now what? Join us for a time set aside to revisit and reignite a previous sense of call to missions & ministry. \nIs it time to move forward? Do you have a feeling of holy discontent? Come to a time set aside for reflection and discernment as we revisit a sense of call and invite God’s Spirit to fan the embers into flame. During this retreat\, sponsored by Eastern Mennonite Missions and LMC we will come together for worship\, teaching\, reflection\, and tools for next steps. Registration fee includes meals and one night of lodging. \nGlenn and June Kauffman will serve as the speakers for the event. With their two children\, they were missionaries in Hong Kong for 15 years. Upon moving to Laurel\, Md.\, they continued their cross-cultural missionary life by participating in Capital Christian Fellowship (CCF)\, a congregation of over 25 nationalities. Glenn is a pastor\, and June leads the ESL ministry and is active on the worship team. June teaches ESL in a middle school\, and Glenn also serves as a bishop in the Washington Baltimore LMC district. In addition\, Glenn leads the International Missions Association\, which links and forms partnerships with Anabaptist cross-cultural missionary-sending churches and organizations from around the world. \nHoreb and Sonya Penya will lead worship. Sonya worked for five years with EMM as an intercessor for youth in mission. Horeb is a middle school teacher in inner-city Lancaster. They have five children ages 3-17 and engage in mission at home and abroad — mostly in ministry trips to South America. Currently\, at home\, they are serving with Christ the King Community Church in Lancaster and Wilkens Avenue Mennonite Church in Baltimore. \n  \nRegister

SUMMARY:March EMM banquet | Sarasota
DESCRIPTION:Eastern Mennonite Missions has sent thousands of missionaries around the world. We’ve done ministry in more than 100 countries. Through God’s faithfulness\, we’ve helped to multiply more than 20 mission movements\, many of which have been among least-reached people. Now\, we’re asking\, “Will God do it again?” We believe that God is doing it again\, and he’s calling us to share the good news with some of the 3 billion least-reached people around the world. The question is whether or not we’re ready to join him in this work ahead. Join us as we share stories about how God is at work\, using EMM to do it again. \nYou are invited to join us for an EMM vision and fundraising banquet. As a result of positive feedback from last year\, the EMM banquet is being offered three different times again this year! Like every banquet\, you’ll have an opportunity to hear some incredible stories of God’s work around the world. You’ll also have an opportunity to partner with us. Your generosity will help us continue to carry out our mission of crossing cultures\, engaging the world\, and multiplying disciples of Jesus. We hope you can join us at one of these three banquets. \nIf you have any questions\, please contact Krista Martin or call 717-898-2251. \nRegister Sponsor a banquet

SUMMARY:Business leaders' breakfast: hiring with purpose
DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to this free breakfast to learn about how your business can hire the right people. \nTruett Cathy\, the founder of Chic-fil-A\, has said: If you hire the “right people again and again\, you will strengthen your culture over time.” We agree\, hiring with purpose makes all the difference. Being able to identify whether a potential employee is values-aligned to fit your organizational culture and has the essential characteristics needed to be successful in the role is critical to successful hiring. We will explore the principles and steps of purposeful hiring\, learning from a panel of business leaders who are leading the charge in their approach to talent selection. Join us for insights from Gina Breslin and Josh Keefer of North Group Consultants as they explore this topic\, followed by a panel discussion. \n\n\n\n\nGina Breslin grew up in a family business of successful diversified holdings and had varied responsibilities through which she learned the team insights\, intuitive decision-making and entrepreneurial spirit that propel businesses forward. She has been employed with North Group Consultants since 2010 and serves primarily in the firm’s Hiring & Talent Selection services. Gina holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Mennonite University. In 2021\, Gina was recognized as a Woman of Influence by the Central Penn Business Journal. She serves on the Board of Jubilee Ministries and the Strategic Planning Team at Neffsville Mennonite Church. \nJosh Keefer has a passion for caring for people and a diverse skillset that stems from a background in nonprofit leadership\, business\, ministry\, and real estate. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Elizabethtown College and\, most recently\, served as VP of Global Development at an international nonprofit. Josh joined North Group in 2017 and values walking alongside leaders as they realize the effectiveness of an empowered team to achieve a common goal. An active member of the local community\, Josh has served on numerous boards and was recognized by the Central Penn Business Journal as a “40 Under 40” leader. \n\nThere is limited parking at Hub 450. You are welcome to use nearby street parking on Prince Street\, Lemon Street\, or James Street\, which is limited to 2 hours and generally free or at least until 8:00 a.m. (please check the signs). SUMMARY:Discipleship in a World Full of Nazis
DESCRIPTION:Discipleship: more than the title of his 1937 book\, this word announced the spiritual and theological foundation for Christian faithfulness and resistance Bonhoeffer believed was needed in Nazi Germany. The centrality of Jesus led him to speak out on behalf of Jews\, argue against war\, form a “new monastic” community\, and resist killing as a soldier — even as he associated with conspirators and sought to broker a peace agreement with the Allied forces during World War II. \nJoin us for an engaging resourcing event as Dr. Mark Thiessen Nation shares about his most recent book\, Discipleship in a world full of Nazis: Recovering the true legacy of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Mark is married to Mary and has two adult married children and four grandchildren. Raised in a decidedly non-Christian family\, he became a Christian at age 17 and a licensed minister at age 18. Since then\, he has been an evangelist\, a youth minister\, a child protective services social worker\, a peace and justice educator\, a pastor\, the director of The London Mennonite Centre\, an author\, and a professor of theology at Eastern Mennonite Seminary (from which position he retired in 2018).
