We are exploring partnerships and mission efforts in Spain, and plans are underway to form an EMM team to connect with Marseilles, France. Our long-term vision is to form international teams to reach immigrant populations and the largely unreached urban population of Europe.
This opportunity is an invitation for the participant to find one’s way in a gateway city. EMM envisions a team where members are involved with a variety of ministry and work possibilities and come together for spiritual nurture, building one another up, and prayer.
Marseilles is one of the poorer cities of France, with high rates of unemployment and some of the resulting social ills, such as high rates of crime (both organized and random) and drug use. However, the people are said to be warm and friendly. Many of them are immigrants who have become well-integrated into the community. The weather is mostly sunny, with some windy days.
Supervisors and colleagues
The pioneer witness will team up with another person who is exploring opportunities to get involved in service. The worker may have French or expat colleagues, depending on the service or ministry opportunities the worker finds. This worker will be supervised by Darrel Weaver, EMM’s regional representative for West Europe.
Skills and experience
Applicants must have some kind of post-high school cross-cultural training. They must also be willing to pursue proficiency in French and/or Arabic. In this multicultural environment, sensitivity and diplomacy, as well as strong communication skills, are very helpful.
