LEOLA, Pa. – Friends and family gathered to commission fourteen short-term mission workers at Eastern Mennonite Missions’ Fall worker commissioning on Sunday, September 13, 2015, at Groffdale Mennonite Church. The workers will serve in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Honduras, Kenya, Peru, Southeast Asia, Western Europe, and the United States (Baltimore, Md.).

Seven of those commissioned are GO! participants, serving on assignments of two months to one year in length. The other seven will serve on YES teams in Kenya and Southeast Asia until May 2016. The Kenya participants will join African teammates and work closely with the Kenya Mennonite Church, doing community development and teaching in both low-income urban areas and rural villages. The Southeast Asia participants will join Asian teammates in building relationships with university students and teaching English.

At the Worker commissioning, EMM Discipleship Coach Troy Landis shared a message from John 20:21. Landis encouraged participants and attendees to remember that we are all sent as disciples of Jesus, and that we need to surrender to the Holy Spirit's work through us.
