Core prayer team

Written by Super User

We at EMM believe that God is calling us into "ridiculous” amounts of prayer.

So we are looking for intercessors willing to commit to one hour of EMM-related prayer each week. These intercessors will receive a monthly email with one or two priority prayer requests to help guide their prayers.

No meetings are required. Members of this core prayer team are encouraged to share what they are hearing in prayer and are welcome to join EMM prayer gatherings as they are able.

Prayer is the channel through which God's power flows to bring His kingdom on earth. Our vision is to see that channel growing in size and strength so that we can see even greater transformation taking place around the world.

To join EMM's core prayer team, please contact Krystle Thorne. Let's pray ridiculous amounts of prayer!

Scripture prayers

Written by Micah Brickner

Sometimes you don’t know exactly how to pray for the EMM workers you carry in your heart. That’s a good time to “pray the Scriptures.” Turn the scriptures below into prayers by inserting the name of the missionary you are supporting in prayer.

Ministry prayers

Father, I ask that _________________ will be filled with the Holy Spirit and will daily walk in the Spirit’s power (Ephesians 5:18; Galatians 5:16).

I pray that _________________ will speak the Word of God with boldness (Acts 4:31; Ephesians 6:19).

I ask that ___________________ will present the gospel clearly to unbelievers (Colossians 4:4).

Father, I ask that You will open doors and hearts to receive Jesus as _______________ ministers in his/her place of service (Colossians 4:3).

I pray that You will make _____________________’s ministry exceedingly fruitful and that You will glorify yourself through this ministry and that the message of Jesus may spread rapidly and be honored. (2 Thessalonians 3:1).

Please grant ______________________ Your specific direction for his/her ministry (Psalm 37:5).

May ____________________ have a renewed and growing zeal to share the gospel with unbelievers (Romans 1:15-16).

May ______________________ be salt and light to the people to which he/she has been sent (Matthew 5:13-14).

I ask that ______________ would not lose his/her focus in ministry but that he/she would have his/her priorities ordered by You. I pray that ______________ will set his/her mind on things above and not on the things of the earth (Colossians 3:2-3).

Provision and protection prayers

May all of ___________________’s needs --- physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual --- be met by You through your grace and power (Philippians 4:19).

I pray that You will raise up intercessors and financial partners for _________________ (1 Thessalonians 5:24).

God, I ask You to protect _____________________ from the attacks of Satan (Romans 15:30-31; 2 Thessalonians 3:2-3, John 17).

Father, I ask that any loneliness experienced by _______________ will become fruitful solitude (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 18:9-10; Hebrews 13:5).

Father, continually protect ____________________ from all harm and strengthen him/her physically (Genesis 2:7).

Relationship prayers

Lord, I pray that _______________ would be accepted by the nationals, the believers, and the missionaries in the area where he/she is laboring (Romans 15:30-31).

I ask that You would grant _____________________ peace and assurance about the care of his/her family members that are back home (1 Peter 5:7).

Lord, I ask You to bless and strengthen ____________________’s family (Ephesians 5:22-6:4).

O God, raise up strong believers around _____________________ who will encourage him/her in the tasks that God has given to him/her (Philemon 20).

Spiritual maturity prayers

Lord, I pray that You will create in ____________________ a servant’s heart (Philippians 2:5-10).

I ask that ____________________ will live and labor each day for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Father, I ask that ___________________ will be a vessel through which the love of God can flow to others (Romans 5:5; John 13:34-35).

I ask that __________________ will have a growing and intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ (John 15:4-5).

I pray that _______________________ will have a deeper and clearer understanding of the Word of God (John 16:13).

Fill _____________________ with Your joy in all situations and let this joy sustain him/her in all situations (Nehemiah 8:10).

Father, I pray that ____________________ would see people and things from your perspective (Proverbs 3:5).

I ask that __________________ will be completely yielded to Christ and willing to die to self in all matters (Mark 8:34-35).

I pray that ___________________ will be growing in humility (1 Peter 5:5-6).

Father, I ask that ____________________ will endure persecution in a Christ-like manner and will be willing to give his/her life for the gospel’s sake if that is what is called for in the situation (1 Peter 2:21-23).

I ask You to create a thankful heart in _____________________ especially in times of difficulty (Ephesians 5:20).

I ask that __________________ will labor from godly motives and not from a desire to please people (2 Corinthians 4:2).

I pray that _____________________ would long to be holy and live a life of obedience to the Word of God (1 Peter 1:15-16).

Father, I pray that You would enable ___________________ to pray for those who persecute him/her and for those who spitefully use him/her (Matthew 5:44).

I pray that ________________ would not lag in diligence but would be fervent in spirit. May _________________ rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and continue steadfastly in prayer (Romans 12:11-12).

May _______________ be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that his/her labor is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).
