This annual week-long summer retreat for new mission interns and long-term workers, as well as long-term workers returning to the field after a home leave, features speakers, fellowship, and relaxation in a camp setting. The 2017 retreat will be held at Black Rock Retreat in Quarryville, Pa., from July 10–14.

Purpose: To take time for well-being and to meditate on discipleship together, so that we are refreshed and equipped to multiply disciples wherever we go.

Speaker: We welcome Dr. John Stahl-Wert for the second year to help the EMM community live more fully into our mission statement: "Christ's transforming love compels us to engage the world, cross cultures, and make disciples of Jesus." John was on EMM staff working in Discipleship Ministries from 1981–1985. He is a bestselling author, inspirational speaker, exceptional coach, and acclaimed authority in the field of leadership development. His focus is helping individuals, organizations, and communities worldwide to embrace and implement the principles of serving leadership. John serves as president of Newton Institute and director of its Center for Serving Leadership, which provides leadership development training and resources to aspiring, emerging, and existing leaders around the world. John also serves as adjunct faculty for the Ray Bakke Centre for Urban Transformation in Hong Kong, and for Geneva College’s Master of Science in Organizational Leadership program.
