K-Teams Local

experience times of being & becoming…

Each day starts grounded in the word of God through small group Bible study. K-Team participants will learn and grow together as a youth group and individually in their journey with Christ as they join in interactive and engaging discipleship sessions.

intertwined with times of doing & serving…

Lancaster K-teams will serve refugee & immigrant populations by partnering with the Pennsylvania Migrant Education Program (PA-MEP). This is a federally funded program that supplements educational support services for migratory children. PA-MEP’s summer school aids English language learners and other migratory children who have had a delayed start or interruption in their education by giving them an additional opportunity for academic instruction and enrichment activities. This program runs from 9:00am-2:30pm Monday – Thursday for five weeks during the summer and is for children from Preschool through senior high school.

K-team youth will join PA-MEP students for lunch, then lead them in enrichment activities for the afternoon. This partnership helps students practice their English skills, learn the culture, and gain confidence in relating to others. EMM, in partnership with PA-MEP staff, will plan some of the daily activities each week and will ask the youth group to plan the other activities. Enrichment activities may include STEAM projects, team building activities, arts & crafts, sports & group games, relationship building through English conversation, and other activities that build community and evidence the love of Christ.

Other activities throughout the week may include prayer walks, cultural learning experiences, team-building experiences, or service projects.
